Unlike most whole-body vibration plates that use spinning motors, the Sonix Sonicwave utilizes pulsating magnets to create sonic vibrations. This key difference translates to several benefits:
- Gentler Experience: Sonicwave technology delivers a smoother, more wave-like vibration compared to the shaking motion of motor-based plates.
- Quieter Operation: The absence of a motor generally translates to a quieter operation, making it ideal for use in apartments or shared spaces.
- Maximum Range:Sonic vibration machines offer the full frequency range, from 0-25 Hz (great for circulation) up to 70Hz for maximum fitness training. Most motorized vibration plates greatly limit outputs.
The Sonix is the best vibration plate available on the market. The key reasons are the frequency, 3-50 Hz (in 1 Hz increments) 60-70Hz (in 5Hz increments), amplitude (0-22 mm), and intensity (0-99) ranges.
Another advantage is the type of vibration. The Sonix uses sonic vibration – which may be smoother and less uncomfortable than mechanical motion. Additionally, the Sonix provides vertical vibration; studies have shown benefits to both vertical and oscillating or rotational vibration (common in mechanical devices). Vertical vibration may improve the penetration depth of the wave energy.
Ultimately, one study of the Sonix vibration machine (VC15) found that WBVT on the Sonix improved lower extremity muscle strength, as well as in a short physical performance battery test (which improved compared to the control).
Vibration therapy hits a wide range of muscles. It can be used to target:

- Lower body: Quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves

Most studies recommend using vibration therapy 2-3 times per week for 15-30 minutes per session. However, consult with a healthcare professional or certified trainer to determine the right frequency and duration for you.
